When to use it
- Show the right language and currency from the first visit
- Alert users when they sign in from an unusual country
- Compare the payment country with the connection country
- Break down visitor statistics by country and network
Good to know
- City level locations are based on the network's equipment and can be tens of kilometres from the real location.
- With a VPN or proxy you get the location of that server. Look at VPN and data center detection as well.
Frequently asked questions
Can it find a street address or someone's home?
No. An IP only tells you the approximate city. It cannot tell you a street address or a home location.
