How to find your IP address (computer and phone)
How to check your public and private IP on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android.
Find your public IP
The easiest way is to open the IPinfoBox home page. Your public IP appears right away with its country, city and network. Nothing to install.
Private IP on Windows
Search for cmd in the Start menu, open Command Prompt and type ipconfig. The IPv4 address of the adapter you are using is your private IP. The default gateway is your router's address.
Private IP on Mac
Open Network in System Settings and view the details of the connected Wi-Fi or Ethernet to see the IP address. You can also type ipconfig getifaddr en0 in Terminal.
iPhone
Go to Settings, tap Wi-Fi and tap the info button next to the connected network to see the IP address. This is the private IP inside your router's network. To see your public IP, open IPinfoBox.
Android
Go to Settings, then Network and internet, then Wi-Fi, and check the IP address in the details of the connected network. Menu names vary a little between manufacturers.
On mobile data
On LTE or 5G, providers often share one public IP among many users. So the location can look quite different from where you are, and your IP can change each time you connect.
