How to change your IP address
Ways to change your public IP, such as restarting the router, switching to mobile data or using a VPN, and what to watch out for.
Restart your router
Most home connections use a dynamic IP, so turning your router (or modem) off and back on after a few minutes can get you a new IP. Depending on the provider, you may get the same IP again.
Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data
Switching your phone from Wi-Fi to mobile data makes you use a different public IP on the mobile network. The same goes the other way round.
VPN
With a VPN on, websites see the IP of the VPN company's server. Pick a server in another country and you look like an IP from that country. Your browser's WebRTC feature can still reveal your real IP, so check once with the WebRTC leak test tool.
Static IP
A static IP for an office or server cannot be changed by you; ask your provider or administrator.
Check that it changed
After changing it, refresh the IPinfoBox home page to see your current IP and location straight away.
